Tattoo Aftercare

Look after your tattoo the Inka way!

What to do if your artist applies Dermor

Making sure a tattoo is looked after correctly once inked into the skin is a critical part of the tattooing process, and that's where Dermor comes in.

Dermor is a tattoo aftercare solution for the initial healing stage of a tattoo. The film acts as a second skin to protect tattoo wounds from germs and bacteria, whilst also allowing the skin to breathe.

Dermor will help to prevent scabbing, any risk of infection, possibility of rubbing clothes and any other external factors that will damage the tattoo. It really is a key part of the tattoo healing process.

Keep your Dermor on for a maximum of 48 hours. During this period, do not get your tattoo wet. Dermor is waterproof however we would only recommend soaking it when you're removing it.

Your new tattoo will weep some lymph fluid/white blood cells/general gunk and excess ink that's been in pores and micro creases of your skin. This is totally normal and expected.

After 48 hours, soak your Dermor and stretch it off in the shower with lukewarm water like demonstrated to the right.

The DO's of Dermor

  • Remove your Dermor after 48 hours.
  • If your Dermor rolls up (NOT exposing your tattoo), snip the peeled up part off with a clean pair of scissors and put a plaster over the edge to prevent it rolling up further.
  • If your Dermor has rolled up and exposed your tattoo, remove it by soaking and stretching it off in the shower with lukewarm water as demonstrated to the top right.

AFTERCARE IS KEY

General Information

Tattoos usually take 4 weeks to fully heal, however healing times can be varied as everybody's bodies heal at different rates. How the tattoo is looked after will also play a huge part in the length of the time it will take to fully heal as well as how well the tattoo will heal.

During the healing process, the tattoo may lose ink. This can be a natural occurrence or it can also happen if a tattoo is damaged whilst healing.

We will top up your tattoo for you one time free of charge. After this, top up's will be charged at £45 per hour. Please contact us if your tattoo loses ink within 1 year of your tattoos completion to book your free top up.

Once the tattoo is fully healed, please be aware of products that may irritate your tattoo. Test patch a small area of your tattoo with any product before using it fully.

If any further advice is needed, please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance.

Aftercare DONT'S

  • Do not over apply your aftercare. Only use a thin layer, only enough to lightly cover the tattoo and appear as a sheen on the skin.
  • Do not exercise for 3-4 days after being tattooed. This still stands even with Dermor applied to your tattoo.
  • Do not re-dress your tattoo.
  • Do not rub or pick at your tattoo during healing.
  • Do not expose your tattoo to direct sunlight during healing.
  • Do not go swimming or soak in the bath until your tattoo is fully healed.
  • Do not allow clothing to rub against your tattoo during healing.
  • Do not touch your tattoo unless you are following aftercare procedures during healing.
  • Do not allow other to touch your tattoo during healing.
  • Do not allow your tattoo to become very dry during healing.
  • Do not use aftercare products that we have not recommended.
  • Do not use any other products on your tattoo during the healing process.
  • Do not use UV lights/lamps on tattooed areas during healing, eg. gel nails, sunbeds, etc.

THC Aftercare Balm

Here at Inka we have Aftercare packs available to purchase. These include:

  • x1 THC Aftercare Balm
  • x1 Spatula
  • x4 Alcohol wipes
  • Extras

How to use

  • When applying your THC Aftercare Balm, scoop a pea sized amount out of the pot with the spatula provided.
  • Transfer the balm you've scooped out onto a clean finger. NEVER dip your fingers in the pot.
  • Using your fingers, apply the balm to the tattoo in a thin layer. This will look like a sheen on the skin. DO NOT apply a thick layer, this can clog up pores and not allow the tattoo and skin to breathe. NEVER use the spatula to apply the balm directly to the skin.
  • Clean the spatula after each use using the alcohol wiped provided. When these run out, 70% isopropyl alcohol can be used instead to clean the spatula. Please ensure that the spatula is clean before dipping it into your aftercare pot.
  • Please keep your pot and spatula in the sealable aftercare bag provided.
